Hi! I'm Jacob Simon. I graduated from Rice University in May 2022 with a double major in Political Science and Visual & Dramatic Arts with a Concentration in Film and Photography. (Try saying that 5 times fast!)  As a student filmmaker, I created over 7 short films in addition to numerous shorter videos, spanning a wide range of genres, from comedy to horror to documentaries. In addition to co-directing all my student films and writing their scripts, I am a skilled editor with hundreds of hours of experience in Adobe Premiere and dozens in After Effects. I am passionate about directing, screenwriting, and editing. I'm looking to take my talents to the next step in either the film, television, or video game industries!  ​

 

Since graduating, I worked as an Assistant Editor on a feature length documentary for a major non-profit, was employed as a Post Production Assistant at a major TV Production company, and now work as a Video Editor and Media Producer on a non-profit's marketing & media team.

A primary motivation in my art is that it challenges me. With my films, I aim for an extremely ambitious scope. Therefore, you can find everything from child actors to car crashes to even laser-shooting robot spiders in my student films. I seek to create films that push me to think in new ways and broaden my horizons, that ultimately will help me improve as a filmmaker, editor, writer, and even as a person in general.

In addition to filmmaking, I am also passionate about politics, social justice, and am an avid gamer. I love animals and have 2 dogs. I'm currently living in Los Angeles.
